In stylistic studies, all textual elements are significant; when examining syntactic structure, particles are no less important than verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs, or pronouns. Given that they perform impactful semantic functions alongside their grammatical roles, an analysis of the "meanings of particles" not only enhances our understanding of syntactic structures within the language corpus but also demonstrates their importance as a distinguishing factor in identifying writing styles—underscoring the fact that an author's semantic approach to particles consistently constitutes a key aspect of stylistic character. It is from this perspective that we examine *Nowruz-Nameh*, one of the earliest works of Persian prose, To address the questions of whether the semantic nature of particles plays a role in shaping writing style, and whether the polysemy of particles in early texts challenges the scholarly emphasis on the stylistic simplicity of those periods, we proceed from the premise that the meanings of particles—despite having received little attention in stylistic studies to date—are crucial and decisive factors in the formation of writing style. An analysis of the text of *Nowruz-nameh* reveals that the particles therein—beyond their grammatical functions—serve to convey a wide range of meanings such as origin, destination, cause, accompaniment, possession, simultaneity, and explication. This demonstrates their semantic complexity, contrasting with the simplicity often attributed to the prose style of early Persian literature—an era characterized by plainness, lack of ornamentation, and the use of predominantly monosemic linguistic units, prior to the onset of the period marked by stylistic affectation and polysemy.
