Abstract

Purpose: Juvayni, in his work the Tarikh Jahangushai goes beyond mere historical narration and employs a simple and direct style, utilizing literary devices and tricks to convey certain truths indirectly while also providing enjoyment. One of his key tools in this regard is the use of Parenthetical Expressions, which play an important role in the structure of the prose in the Tarikh Jahangushai aiding in the better transmission of concepts and enhancing the aesthetic quality of the text.
Method and Research: This descriptive-analytical study examines and explains the aesthetic functions of parenthetical clauses in Tarikh Jahangushai, focusing on their role in rhetoric and literary ornamentation, enhancing the musicality of the text, supporting its meaning, and exploring the relationship between these functions and the work's central themes.
Findings and Conclusions: The findings indicate that, from an aesthetic perspective, Parenthetical Expressions play a significant role in creating and reinforcing imagery, and better conveying emotions and sentiments within the text. These expressions provide an appropriate context for the author's descriptions and for intertwining the text with verses, narratives, Arabic phrases and other rhetorical devices. Furthermore, most of the vocabulary present in these expressions has been chosen to create harmony and congruence, both phonetically and semantically with other expressions in The Tarikh Jahangushai.
